Education

The 1826 Survey into Irish Education lists a school in the Knocks (spelt Knox) it is described as a thatched, clay building with 34 Protestant 6 RC pupils. The teacher was Walter Rickey who was paid £10 per annum and the funder was the London Hibernian Society. On the 1835 map it does not appear so we can only speculate that this may have been the site of the present Knox Orange Hall.

Home Guard

This group of local men was taken outside the Knox hall at the beginning of World War II. We have been told that it was to do with the formation of the Home Guard.
