This townland is the site of a large forth or rath, said to be one of the best examples of its kind. Luckily it has survived in its entirety although overgrown with many large trees and much shrubbery, so much so that it is hard to distinguish in the surrounding landscape. It may be that in the future this forth will be preserved and become accessible. It is said that when the interior was clear there was enough land to provide a good ruck of hay. This farm at one time had extensive apple orchards. These would have dated from the beginning of the last century when several large orchards were planted in the Newtownbutler area as a commercial venture. This forth and the forth on Lisnamallard are quite close to each other. McCaffrey
